She definitely has the "teacher voice" down! She can get a bit bossy. :) I promise we are working on her manners!

Our little "teacher"!
First off Sydney got some new PJs for Christmas and they quickly became her favorite! (one of her favorites anyhow...right next to her "monkey jamas." Here she is showing her daddy her "no-man jamas." She would wear these all day if we'd let her!
Sydney has always loved to read books with us but just recently she's started to always want her very own turn when we're done reading. So here she is "reading" one of her Dora books. Must say it makes me proud...she holds it just like a little teacher! ;)

27 1/2 weeks...
I have been SO horrible about taking pictures of my growing belly this pregnancy. I have one every single week from 6 weeks until about 27 weeks with Sydney and I have um....ONE at about 20-some weeks with this little one. I already feel that second child syndrome--poor baby. So here is how I am going to make it up to this baby (and hopefully I will also feel less guilty in the end :) )..since I didn't take "belly pics" from 27 weeks or so on with Sydney, I will try extra hard to get a weekly belly pic from this point until the end with this baby!
I actually got the comment today "you're still pregnant huh?" Every Sunday after church we eat at the same restaurant and the waitress made this comment--I was shocked she'd even noticed since we haven't had her wait on us in quite awhile plus I don't really think I'm that big to be receiving those comments. Oh well I guess. :) I just replied with a simple "yep...still have a few months to go!" :)
Here are couple pictures of the new baby's bed all set up--this was our snow day(s) project!

SNOW DAYS!
Sydney and I returned to our regular week schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday only to have snow days on Thursday and Friday! :) We got some snow on Wednesday but not a huge amount--I think the main reason for the cancelling of school is because it has been SO very bitterly cold here! As in below 0 wind chill in the teens both days. :( It will be so hard to go back to school Monday (if we have it! ;) )
We spent Thursday getting the baby's room a little more ready. We washed blankets and clothes and set up the bed and filled up the dresser. I spent Friday looking for a double stroller; ugh now that's a project. There are so many options and of course things I like about all of the options, etc. Good thing we have a couple of months left!
This morning Joe went on a pheasant hunting trip he had planned with some guys from work--lets just say I'm glad that we didn't have to get out in the cold. :) So Sydney and I had blueberry pancakes for breakfast (that's our girl day thing! :) ) and have been watching some Dora and Bindi the Jungle Girl this morning! Did I already mention how difficult it will be to return to work on Monday?

Baby furniture!
The furniture we picked out at Nebraska Furniture Mart was delivered and set up today. I came home over lunch to furniture that was more beautiful than I remembered! I had thought it was much lighter and more of an oak color, but it's a rich darker brown....it's just perfect for the room! As I mentioned in my previous post it was the 4th set we looked at--I had fallen in love with this other set but it was super expensive. While I was downstairs keeping Sydney entertained while Joe perused back through the cribs he found this one and told me to check it out. I was hoping to match what ever furniture we got to a bookshelf I had had in my room growing up that was made by my Grandpa Nelson, that I wanted to use in the baby's room. In my mind (while at the store) I thought it was much darker so I kept going towards the dark cribs, but Joe kept telling me it was lighter and more red....well Someone Up Above must have been talking to me through Joe because the furniture and the bookshelf are almost a perfect match! :) Now I'm hoping for a snow day this week so I can get things washed and set up!

Just a little post about our new baby!
First off, I took Sydney to a doctors appointment this morning for her and she kept pointing out what I usually do! As in, they weighed her and then she said "mommy's turn!" (Not this time dear--thank goodness! :) ) And she pointed to the chair where I get my blood pressure taken..."sit there?" Then when the doctor came in she said "new baby?" because we usually get to listen to the new baby and talk about him or her a lot! :)
Anyhow our scanner is not working properly so I had to take a picture of the picture of our new baby. Keep in mind it isn't the best profile because s/he wanted to hide most of the time!
We also worked this weekend on getting the room ready for the big furniture move-in day! We wanted the room ready to go so when the furniture came in so we (well, I :) ) could start right away getting it ready for Baby Helget. Joe finished touching up the trim and the doors where the paint had been chipped and he and Sydney helped me clean out the closet. I tried to find a new and organized home for as much of it as I could, but I really just felt in the end like I was redistributing the junk everywhere else! Oh well...everything that wasn't for the baby is now out of there and all that is IN the closet is FOR the baby. Now all we need is furniture to start making this room look fit for a baby! Tomorrow bright and early it will be here!

This is really happening huh?? :)

Happy New Year!
Welcome to 2010 everyone! Shockingly Joe and I made it up a lot later than I thought we would but still went to bed before midnight. I think we were watching "The Office" or something? Anyhow, that "day of doing n-o-t-h-i-n-g" I mentioned in my previous post? Well....I lied. :) Wednesday night we discussed when we would go to pick out furniture for the nursery. Joe is doing a lot of hunting "things" most of the weekends in January and I wanted to be sure we got something taken care of before he got busy with that. So at the last moment yesterday morning we decided to head to Nebraska Furniture Mart in Kansas City (oh and Cabela's of course!) to get the furniture. I had seen a crib and changer online that I knew they had so didn't anticipate spending much time there. We ate lunch at Famous Dave's, went to Cabela's so Joe could spend a gift card and Syd could see all the animals. :) Then we went to the furniture mart! I found the crib and changer right away, it was in stock and we were really close to getting it when we discovered Sydney's diaper was dirty so I had to go change her. Of course Little Miss Independent had to climb down all 3 levels of stairs down to the bathroom and then get changed, etc. All this time meant that Joe had that much more time to think about our decision. ;) (What can I say? He's a thinker!) Anyhow when we returned we decided that we didn't want the changer because it was only a changer whereas Sydney's is a combo dresser/changer that we bought with the idea of it growing with her. We want the same for this baby...so..we kept looking. This created a domino effect that took us through 3 more "sets" of furniture! We ended up going with the fourth set we looked at and I am really excited about it! It will be delivered and set up Tuesday so then I can officially start getting that room ready for Baby! We were there so much longer than we anticipated and Sydney did get antsy but tolerated everything longer than we thought! Bless her little heart--she had a busy couple of days!! Soooo...today we did n-o-t-h-i-n-g. :)
